Blog stats

Pardon the randomness of this post.  I am looking at my blog stats and there have been some ridiculous number (like 20 or something) hits from people looking for information about hurting feet. LOL  I just found that funny because it’s not like it’s a daily topic or anything.

School is crazy busy.  I’m looking for another apartment because the one I live in is ridiculous.  We will be moving at the end of the month.  I have no money which for some reason hasn’t affected my ability to find food.   My cat is better and is back to chasing the dog.  My bud Moe is back from her trip and I’m so happy because I missed her so much.   And there’s my summary. What, you didn’t think it was going to be INTERESTING did you??

Ah… Life

I’m in such a haze. Things are great with school by the way. I love my classes. They are all so interesting and we get to sit around and talk about food and policies relating to food, and effects of food on development, and eating food. It’s all really great. (where’s the but??) Well there is no but. My cat is sick though, and I’m horribly worried about her. She actually is getting better but she has been vomiting and had diarrhea for several days. I took her to the vet and they gave some medicines. You know, they are always so quick to prescribe some medicine. I really wanted to know what the medicine was for, but didn’t think of the question, you know, until I was in the car driving away with my angry cat (because they gave her 3 shots and she was surly after that). Her issue is that she may have ingested something that was toxic to her due to all the apartment maintenance issues and the folks coming in and painting, disinfecting for mold, replacing part of the floor in my bedroom (and should I be annoyed that the floor boards they put down doesn’t match the ones that were down? Its such an eye sore though!), and all kinds of other stuff. The vet thought she might have walked through something, cleaned herself and set off her GI issues. I am so mad. Anyway, other than that, and that’s big to me, I’m doing quite well. I’m missing my mother and my friend Elli like crazy (my mom is traveling, lucky monkey. LOL yeah i just called my mom a monkey. that wasn’t very nice at all!!!). I also miss things like my grocery buddy and my comfortable apartment. However, I don’t miss those insects in Atlanta. I find myself looking for big old mutant looking cockroaches while I’m walking, and I never see any! It’s amazing, and wonderful all at the same time.

I made some time to visit my dear friend J last weekend since now I have the freedom to zip up the east coast all quickly and such. I had such a lovely time visiting with her and just chatting and enjoying the company of a good friend. As I just mentioned, I’m severely missing my good friends right now, so it was nice to have a little of that for a couple of days. Maybe she’ll blog more about it later; she took pictures! Oh and if you haven’t seen her little cutsie hair cut, you should check it out by clicking on her link on the side of the page.

Hey, I have even forced myself (in the last 2 days) to actually speak to some people. I don’t know if you realized it or not, but I’m not so much a people person until I already know you. Then we can talk all day. And it’s not that I don’t like people or anything, but in certain situations I tend to be quiet. Anyway, I met several seemingly nice people in my department. I even met a black person. Not that I’m counting, but you know, I like black people, being black and all, and in many of my classes, there are none. In many of my large lectures, there may be 10/250 or so people and I’m being all inclusive by saying “black” because that does represent people of many different backgrounds that don’t necessarily self- associate themselves with the entirety of the group. Is entirety even a word? How is that spelled anyway. That’s a rhetorical question and I’m not actually expecting you to answer because if I really wanted to know, I would check. It’s low on the total importance list right now though. Anyway, what’s my point? I met one of the 10 today and I thought that was nice. She was an international health student (like me) from Ghana and she seems so funny. I also met a couple of students from Peru both with the same name, that I thought was interesting, but at least it increases the risk that i don’t forget it. It’s like someone I knew with two girlfriends (true story) with the same first name and last initial. He could never call one of them by the wrong name, although I think that was purely coincidental.

This school is cool though. I can whip open my computer anywhere and just start surfing the internet. I mean this is different from the times I was in school and internet use was restricted to computer labs or specific locations with ethernet connections. And then too it’s like a really good connection and you don’t get poor signals in the middle of stuff and such.

Ok. I am about to go to the library for a while and study, but I thought I would check in and remind the world that I am alive. Adios!
